About Us
Charlie Chambers is the Director of Adelong Outdoor Education.
Charlie is a professional youth worker with a BA (Hons) in youth and community work from Exeter University.
Charlie has been involved in leading and supporting expeditions around the world from paddling the Black Volta river in Ghana, vertical caving in Spain, leading a conservation diving project on the Great Barrier reef and an expedition to Tanzania. She has recently returned from a 6 month post running wilderness expeditions in rafting, hiking, climbing and canoeing in North East Victoria Australia.
Charlie demands high standards from both herself and within her business life, she holds nationally recognised qualifications, approvals and higher awards in Climbing, Caving, Power boating, Mountaineering, Canoeing, Kayaking, Rafting, Coasteering, Mountain Biking as well as being a Swift Water Rescue Technician and holder of a 7 day wilderness first aid certificate.
Charlie believes that her company will only be as good as the people she employs therefore she is committed to using only the most expert instructors available to deliver programmes and activities for Adelong Outdoor Education.

Amy Reeson has recently joined Adelong as a director with responsibility for administration and finance, Amy is an experienced nationally qualified youth worker, prior to this she was an administrator for Torbay Youth Service. Amy is organised methodical and has a good understanding of the outdoor industry.
Along with her Admin role Amy is also a qualified Archery Leader and supports on several of our programmes including coasteering, paddlesport, gorge walking and indoor rock climbing.
Amy's Youthwork skills are a great asset to our company, Amy has worked with a wide variety of groups including excluded and disengaged young people, she is able to build strong relationships and ensure that they get the most from their experience with Adelong.

Paul Bayliss has recently joined Adelong as a director. Paul has been working in the outdoors for the last 10 years. From an early age Paul was involved in the cadets where he developed his passion for adventure and outdoor activities both on land and water. His three years at university ended with a degree in Outdoor Education, after which he started working at the National White Water Centre in Wales as a rafting and kayak guide. Paul has worked as freelance instructor across both England and Wales before finally settling here at Adelong.
Paul is a well respected and very experienced and highly qualified instructor, he is passionate about facilitating quality outdoor learning and delivers all of his programmes with professionalism and enjoyment at the forefront.
Paul holds nationally recognised qualifications, approvals and higher level awards in climbing, caving, powerboating, mountaineering, canoeing, kayaking, rafting, coasteering, mountain biking, archery as well as being a swift water technician.

Our Philosophy
We believe that we are privileged to be able to enjoy and experience our natural world through challenging, exciting and rewarding activities. Adelong always practices minimal impact principles to do our part in protecting our diverse and beautiful environment.
All Adelong activities are underpinned by our core curriculum, “respect and responsibility for self, others and the natural world”
All of our instructors promote ‘challenge by choice’ principles throughout sessions and aim to facilitate and encourage everybody involved to achieve their fullest experience through the activity.
The significance of nature and our part within the natural world is central to our philosophy. It is well known and recognised that immersion into the natural world and the outdoor environment brings about positive outcomes on a far deeper level than is often appreciated or acknowledged.
The word Adelong comes from an Australian Aboriginal word and means ‘along the way’ and ‘rivers and water’, symbolising the journey that we all experience within outdoor activity.
The symbol that we have chosen to use is an Australian Aboriginal symbol showing ‘the giving of knowledge from women to young people’.
