Coasteering in Devon- Geopark 'Coast Wise' Scheme Torbay


Adelong is a licensed provider of Coasteering at Anstey's Cove in Torquay, South Devon through the 'Coast Wise' scheme.

Anstey's Cove is important for wildlife, the coastline surrounding the cove is nationally protected as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). This protects the site from activity that might damage the geology of the area and the special wildlife, which includes rare limestone grasslands, lichens and the geological features of the site.

The marine environment at Anstey's Cove also has protection, with the sea caves in the coastal cliffs being protected due to their importance for wildlife by a candidate European Special Area of Conservation (cSAC).The English Riviera was recognised in 2007 by UNESCO (united Nations Education Science and Cultural Organisation) and awarded the status of Global Geopark. Global Geopark status is awarded to areas with internationally important geology and outstanding heritage, archaeological, ecological, and cultural value.
