Expeditions
Based in Devon we run expeditions in a range of different locations and environments across the UK including Scottish lochs and rivers, the River Wye and the River Dart estuary. Our expeditions can run from three days upwards and provide a unique opportunity to venture into some of our most pristine and remote environments. Journey by open canoe or on foot we can tailor make an expedition to suit you, including the opportunity to gain the practical skills as well as time to practice the art of expeditioning by open canoe or on foot. Our expeditions will typically include wild camping, open fires, wildlife watching, basic bush craft skills and the opportunity to ‘get away from it’, they run as a self sufficient programme and always practice minimal impact principles.

Scottish lochs and rivers- Open canoeing is a magical way to explore some of our most remote and pristine environments within the UK. Paddle through stunning mountain scenery, camp on loch side white sandy beaches, encounter nobody else, experience a vast array of birdlife and wildlife, practice minimal impact expeditioning skills. We will tailor make your expedition to suit you and your favoured location, choose between Moidart on the West Coast which combines lochs, rivers and the sea along with magical wild camping locations and a fantastic range of wildlife or Assynt in Sutherland, a true expedition through remote and beautiful mountain terrain, stunning wildlife and a range of different expedition skills including a portage. Our expeditions are fully catered; all specialist equipment will be provided.

River Wye - Open canoeing through the Wye Valley is the perfect way to experience and enjoy some of our most beautiful river environments. The Wye combines an abundance of wildlife- including otters, kingfishers, and peregrine falcons if you are really lucky. It is home to some fantastic southern Wales scenery which changes with every meander in the river, along with picturesque riverside camping. Throughout the journey you will learn and practice the art of open canoe expeditioning as well as have the opportunity to run Symonds Yat rapid to conclude your expedition.

River Dart- Based on the River Dart in Devon, the open canoe journey is an opportunity to explore this beautiful tidal estuary which boasts a wide range of wildlife, including our commonly spotted seal, an array of birds, bats, and if you are really lucky otters. Open Canoeing is a magical way to explore the Dart and gives you the opportunity to paddle into some fantastic beach camp areas right on the rivers edge, which we will have all to ourselves for our nights camping on expedition. Throughout the journey there will be plenty of opportunity to learn the art of open canoeing as well as some basic bush craft skills so you can light a fire (without matches) and cook our dinner!
