BMC Women’s Ready to Rock Courses
BMC Women’s Ready to Rock on Dartmoor
Based on Dartmoor, the BMC Women’s Ready to Rock Courses are designed to help women indoor climbers make their first moves onto rock by having a fun day out as well as covering the use of some key skills and equipment.
Course Content
During the course, a range of topics will be covered including:
- Types of trad climbing equipment
- Placing good protection
- Building good belays
- Using guidebooks
- Seconding/top roping
Is it for me?
These courses are ideal for novice climbing club members, students, parents and individuals who may have had the odd taster of climbing outdoors and wish to gain key safety skills.
They are also useful for individuals hoping to undertake Rock Climbing Instructor Award training.
Pre-requisities
These courses are for women aged 18 years or older who are able to put on and adjust a harness, tie in to the rope and belay a climbing partner.
Kit and Equipment
For this course, you will need your own outdoor clothes and footwear, including rock climbing shoes.
Helmet, harness and belay device can be borrowed, if required.
All ropes and trad gear will be provided.

Who will be instructing?
The instructors for these courses are very experienced women climbers who hold the MCI or WMCI qualification, and are members of the AMI (Association of Mountaineering Instructors).
Duration
The course will run for 1 day.
