Doorpost Overview

Doorpost, a Bosigran classic as per the Rockfax guidebook, unfolds over three pitches against Cornwall’s rugged coast.

Pitch 1: 4a, 27m

The adventure begins with a scramble up a broken corner, navigating past intermittent seepage after rainfall. Ascending a diagonal break under the imposing brown wall, climbers find themselves on a ledge that offers a strategic vantage point to appreciate the surroundings and prepare for the next leg of the journey.

Pitch 2: 4b, 15m

Transitioning to the twin cracks on the left, this shorter pitch demands precision as climbers navigate from one crack to another. The crux here challenges with its technical demands, leading to a well-earned perch on a sturdy ledge that invites a brief pause to admire the unfolding panorama.

Pitch 3: 4a, 25m

The final stretch unfolds with a leftward traverse, where, after one exposed move, cracks and generous holds guide climbers upwards towards the cliff’s apex. The sense of accomplishment grows palpable as each move brings closer the summit, marked by a triumphant finish just shy of the capping overhangs.

The Climbing Experience at Bosigran

Doorpost epitomises Bosigran’s climbing appeal with solid granite that accommodates cams and provides secure placements. Despite quick post-rain drying, caution is warranted on the first pitch due to lingering seepage.

Approach and Logistics for Bosigran

Access from the Carn Galver tin mine car park is straightforward, with a short hike to the crag’s base and a clear trail to Bow Wall, marking the route’s start. The return path ensures a seamless transition from approach to ascent and descent.
