Sutherland open canoe and ecology journey
Ecology, environment and nature-based activities underpin and are integrated throughout the programme with an ecologist supporting and sharing knowledge (an incredible amount of knowledge and experience) throughout the expedition. Flora, fauna and bird identification, small mammal camera traps, habitat surveying, re-wilding impact, deer management and so much more…. Example Itinerary:
Day 1 –Meet in Elphin where the open canoe expedition begins, paddle into Loch Veyatie for our first overnight camp.
Day 2- Our journey continues up Loch Veyatie and into Fionn Loch, this has some of the most spectacular views of Suilven, one of Scotland’s most
Day 3 – Canoeing Fionn Loch to Loch Sionascaig. Today we will learn the art of portaging! We will portage across to Loch Sionascaig and head for our wilderness campsite enjoying a well-earned rest and evening at our camp in the heart of the Inverpolly Nature Reserve.
Day 4 – Loch Sionascaig to Loch Buine Moire. We canoe through Loch Sionascaig for a short portage into Loch Buine Moire. A short paddle will bring us to the vehicles and to the end of our expedition.
